My name is Connor Schlegel, a 22 year old broadcast journalism student at West Virginia University with a minor in political science. I have aspirations of working as a television news correspondent, focusing on world news and politics.

Former 2015-16 WVU Football and Mens’ basketball beat writer at EerSports.com, a 24-7 Sports affiliate. As the student intern at EerSports, I conducted interviews with players and attended the weekly press conference of head coach Dana Holgorsen. On game days, I attended each home game and provided important content for our website’s message forum. During games, I ran the @EerSportsDotCom twitter handle providing live updates. I wrote two to four articles per week focused on ongoing storylines which were published to EerSports.com.

Former local news contributor at the Daily Athenaeum, West Virginia University’s independent, student-run newspaper. I covered the beat for student government, university-related news, and some political campaign coverage. Article topics ranged from panhandling in downtown Morgantown, covering student discussion panels focused on consent & sexual assault prevention, to breaking down how elected officials in West Virginia were voting in the 2016 presidential election.

A native of Stephens City, Virginia, I graduated from Sherando High School in 2013. It was there that I found my passion for journalism, taking an introductory journalism class and writing for the school newspaper. I began my career as a sports writer, summarizing high school games and writing features on Sherando athletes in various sports.
